    DescriptionThe image is an illustration for the publication Harper's Weekly. The composition depicts a standing male figure holding a rifle in his hands. The butt of the rifle is held in his proper right hand and the barrel is lifted slightly up in his left hand. The figure is dressed in a Native American style; including a hat with three plumes coming out of the top, as well as two sashes across his chest. Underneath the image in a course cursive script, is written "WM Bowlegs 1858".
