DescriptionThe image is an interior domestic scene executed in a northern European style; two standing female figures are present, one central and one secondary. The central figure is turned to the right of the support so that the face is in profile and she is suspended in the act of washing her hands; she is clothed in a gown with her hair styled up on her head. The secondary figure is on the right of the composition facing the left edge of the support so that she is also viewed in profile; she is clothed in a dark gown with a white collar and has a cap on her head and is holding a basin into which she pores water out of a pitcher. In the background setting of the room there is, from left to right, a dog seated on the ground, a table covered with a textile, a framed work of art on the wall, and a canopied bed.
