DescriptionThis painting depicts a gathering of people inside of an enclosed space with classical columns, stone stairs, and a pool of water in the bottom left corner. A young female figure wearing a dark dress and white head covering guides an elderly male figure in white holding a stick to the pool's edge. Several other figures with physical afflictions sit on the stone ground around the pool. On the left two male figures carry a sickly female figure down the steps to the pool. A young female figure leans against a pillar with an infant in her arms and observes the scene. In the distance three figures stand in conversation just outside the city wall. On the other side of the wall the tops of classical buildings can be seen.
