PARLEY JEPPERSON1884 - 1920

Parley was born in Provo in 1884 to Samuel Hans Jepperson and his wife Minnie. Parley spent four years in Boston at the New England Conservatory of Music and art School. In his youth he was interested in chalk drawings and as a student at Franklin school, he was directed by the principal to decorate the blackboards for each holiday using colored chalk. He served as Art supervisor of the Provo Public Schools and as a Member of the Columbia Theater Orchestra.

Information taken from the artist's constituent binder in The Print Study Room which was taken from Croft's biography of Parley Jepperson's sister, Florence Jepperson Madsen, a singer and Professor of Music at BYU for many years.
