CHARLES LAPLANTE

1837-1903
BiographyLaplante, C., was an itinerant artist who did an 1860 view of the temple granite quarry. The LDS Museum of Church History and Art records suggest he may have done "one or more engravings" of the temple granite quarry around the 1860s. an engraving signed "Laplante" and entitled "The Gurnard" was printed in the "Juvenile Instructor" in May 1879. (A "gurnard" is a spiny-finned sea creature having a large head covered with plates of bone, as well as large wing-like pectoral fins, each of which has three fingerlike feelers.)
