DescriptionThis is a DVD recording of a performance by Rie Hachiyanagi. The artist, dressed in cream and with a shaved head, begins by bowing. She then begins to slowly ascend a staircase made of wood and Plexiglas. At the top of the stairs she bends and lifts a sheet of paper. She straightens, takes a few steps and releases the paper from her arms. The paper falls to the ground. The video shows several freeze frames of the paper falling to the floor. The artist then begins to slowly descend the staircase backwards. When she reaches the bottom she moves to where the paper has fallen, bends down, picks up the sheet of paper and walks to the bottom of the stairs, where she re-ascends the stairs and repeats the entire process. After she has retrieved the paper a second time she again ascends the staircase. As she reaches the top she ends by replacing the paper at the top and descends once more.
