DescriptionThe image is an etching which places a group of figures in a stable-like setting, lit only by a lantern and a star in the night sky. From left to right the figures are: a female seated on a mound of hay covered with a cloth, an infant in a make-shift bed, a male seated at the end of the infant's bed with a staff between his legs, a male standing in the entrance just next to the lantern, and a youthful male turned so that he is looking away from the scene with an arm raised. A star shines above the youthful figure's raised hand.
