DescriptionThis image depicts a nativity. A female figure is seated next to an infant, atop cloth-covered hay, at the far left of the image. Most of the light rests on the infant. A male figure sits at the foot of the infant’s bed, holding a staff with a basket to his right. A figure stands over the family with hands together in worship and another figure stands behind him, beckoning outside of the image with a raised arm. The stable has a hay-strewn floor, draped ceiling, and through the opening in the upper right corner shines a bright star in the night sky. The scene is illuminated by a single lantern hanging near the center of the image. On View
