DescriptionThe image is a bust portrait of a human figure. The background is mostly a mottled tan negative space. At the very lower edge of the portrait, a brown strip borders the bottom. It looks like it may be the top of a fence or wall. Slightly to the right of the middle, the human figure is portrayed. He appears to be Native American. He wears a blue blazer or jacket with gold buttons and, underneath, a white collared shirt with some spotty stains on the left side. Around his neck is an elaborate checker necklace. It is composed of several lightly-colored layers of beads or pearls, and in the center a darker line of beads runs through. Hanging from the main beads is a pendant, the chain of which is beaded and the pendant itself a gold circular object. The man himself is somewhat expressionless. Part of his hair hangs loose to his shoulders. Out from under that runs a braid on either side of his head. He wears a blue hat with gold detailing and a blue feather leaning out to the left.
