DescriptionThe image is a profile of a small human figure in a canoe-like boat, a bird figure atop his head. The lower half of the image is dominated by dark negative space. A lighter line down this half indicates that it is a body of water. Behind the boat and figure is more dark negative space. Ripples extend from the boat on the surface of the water. The human faces the left edge of the image, his eyes closed and his right arm extended out in front of him, holding a candle, while his left arm rests atop the edge of the boat. He wears multi-layered apparel, which extends in the back halfway up his head. He wears a close-fitting headdress. The bird squats on top of this headdress, similarly facing the left edge of the painting. The bird's tail hangs over the humans' head.
