DescriptionThe image is a landscape setting of a group of covered wagons, some stationary and some still traveling in a line that extends from the foreground into the distance. In the right foreground and middle ground figures, male and female, young and old, mill around stationary wagons; two groups gather around campfires. Right of center the line of traveling wagons move into the foreground on a muddy and rutted road; a flatbed wagon is exiting the composition on the right. The whole scene is dusted with snow.
