DescriptionThe foreground of the image is a body of water at which, on the far side, a line of figures dressed in western pioneer clothing, both adult female and juvenile, stand and wash. Beyond the front figures, in the middle ground, a group of cattle is herded by two mounted male figures, traveling from right to left. A small rim edge of barren dirt topped by low green scrub separates the background where a line of covered wagons also travel from right to left. The canvas has a decorative paint border.
