DescriptionThe visual plane of the canvas is filled with a group of female Native American figures all mounted on horses traveling from left to right. The figure central to the foreground is clothed in a white fringed dress with blue decoration and a red scarf around her head. Two horses are harnessed with poles to drag loads behind them; two of the figures carry papooses on their backs. The foreground is scattered with autumn leaves and the background is dense golden foliage yet to fall. The canvas is edged by a decorative paint border. On View
