Biographyof St. George and Provo, was a painter, educator, printmaker, woodcarver, draftsman, and art administrator. He studied at the Otis Art Institute in Los Angeles (1934-39), at Brigham Young University (B.S., 1942; M.S., 1943), at the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center (summer 1942), at Columbia University Teachers College (1949-50) and at the Art Students League in New York City (1950), and at the University of Colorado at Boulder (Ed.D., 1958). His BYU teaching experiences included special instructor (1940-43), assistant professor (1950-53), associate professor (1953-58), professor of art (1958-74), and emeritus professor of art and education (1974-93). He also served as the chair of the BYU art department from 1953 to 1956 and from 1958 to 1974. Andrus was a solid and open-minded professional educator and studio artist in oil and printmaking. He was also a pioneer locally in terms of more personally powerful stylizations within his portraits and landscapes. (b. July 11; d. June 23)
