ZORAN ANTONIO MUSIC
1909-2005
1920-30: After finishing high school he applies at the Academy of Art at Zagreb. It is then that he has his first experiences with Klimt and Shiele. He then encountered the French impressionists in Prague.
1930-35: Music enters the academy of Beaux in Zagreb, took courses from Babek a well-known Croatian painter who was a student of Stuck in Munich. Music becomes very enthusiastic about Spanish paintings, Goya and Greco.
1935: Spends much of his time at the Prado copying Goya and Greco.
1941-42: Exhibitions in Zagreb with Babok and two old students of the academy, Stupica and Simunnovic. Also collective exhibitions in Ljublajana. The war breaks out and Italy takes Dalmatie and Slovenia.
1943: First trip to Venice. Displays in Trieste at the gallery of Decrescenzio with Silvio Benzo where he receives a good review in the "Piccolo."
1944
Stopped by the Gestapo. Accused of being a anti-Nazi collaborator, and held in Trieste, then sent to Dachau.
1945-46
After liberation from Dachau he returns to Gorizia, then to Venice.
1947
Receives commission by the collector Posposil to paint in the Palazzo Sagredo in two rooms. Then he is given a room in Palazzo Pisani in Venice.
1948
Displays two tablots in the Venice Biennale.
1970
Begins the series "We are no the Last." Numerous paintings from the seires entered into public collections at the George Pompidou, the MOMA of Paris, collections in Munich, Jerusalem, Venice, Copenhagen, Oslo, and Hovikodden.
