BiographyMiller, A. David, Jr. (1964-), of Payson, Spanish Fork, Provo, and Orem, is a realist and color impressionist of figurative and landscape themes. Merrill studied at Brigham Young University (B.F.A., 1998), was independently influenced by William Whitaker and Christ Young, and most admires the work of John William Waterhouse. The artist explains, "Richer textures and pigmentation is increasingly more important to me. Balancing loose areas against tighter gems forces the message and then letting the supporting elements become more free gives intuition more rein." (b. November 10)
