DescriptionThe image is dominated by darkly shadowed hills that loom large against a skyline heavy with storm clouds. At the base of the hills there is eroded ground that provides a pathway for a herd of cattle and three mounted figures. On the far right are the tops of a stand of trees. In the immediate foreground is a muddy river that runs horizontally across the entire canvas.
