DescriptionThe image depicts an interior stable scene with a female figure left of center, highlighted by light from a hanging lantern, seated on a mound of hay cover with a cloth and resting her arm around the head of a small infant lying draped with cloth. A male figure holding a staff is seated at the foot of the infant's bed; two additional male figures stand in an open entrance to the right. A bright star can be seen in the sky through the entrance opening.
