DescriptionThe image is an interior domestic scene in which the central feature is a female figure seated in a chair holding an infant on her lap tucked in a pink layette. The walls of the room are red tone on tone stripped wallpaper, the wall on the left also containing a pale green door with pale green moldings surrounding it. Moving around the room from left to right the decor includes: a round table covered in a crotched doily, a sewing basket opened on the top with a drawer open in the front and a textile on the floor around the base, a wall clock, the chair with figure and infant, a wall mirror with shelf underneath and candle sconces on either side, a cradle painted green with decorative roses, and a stuffed teddy bear on the floor.
