BiographyMehr, Judith (1951-), is a Salt Lake-area painter who specializes in realist figurative works (in oil), expressive of positive cultural values; she also paints colorful abstracts. Born in San Francisco, California, this extremely capable and imaginative artist became a resident of Utah in 1978. She holds a B.F.A. from Brigham Young University (1974), and exhibits her fine work frequently at local galleries and museums. Mehr's subjects include landscape, still life, genre, and portraiture, and she is represented in various private, corporate, and public collections, including the LDS Museum of Church history and Art and the Salt Lake County at the County Complex in Salt Lake City (her painting there shows a fine older couple gardening together-"Retirement" [1986, oil on canvas, 32 x 48 inches]-and is still used as the cover reproduction for that collection's catalog).
