DescriptionThe image is a three-quarter length portrait of a seated aged male figure clothed in a gray three-piece suit, blue tone tie and white button down shirt; the figure is turned toward the left edge of the support with his right arm resting on a table and his right hand holding a pen over a sheet of paper. Behind the figure's right hand a bronze bust sits atop a small stack of books while another Greene work, "New Year’s Eve 1862," appears on the wall.
