DescriptionAn etching depicting an interior stable scene that has only one light source being held by a male figure. The light illuminates a female figure on the left side of the work. She is seated on a mound of hay covered with a cloth and rests her arm around the head of a small infant lying draped with cloth. A cloth is hung above the head of the woman and infant. A male figure in the shadows holds a staff while seated at the foot of the infant's bed. On the right side of the work, there is another male figure, whose arm is raised slightly. A bright star is seen in the sky through the entrance opening. The foreground of the scene is covered in hay.On View
