VON ALLEN

born 1950
Biographyof Union City, Pennsylvania, is a ceramic sculptor, educator, and art administrator. She studied at Edinboro State College (B.A., 1973; M.A., 1976) and Syracuse University (M.F.A., 1983). Hired at Brigham Young University in 1984, Allen was featured in the "Women Artists of Utah" exhibition in Springville. Her ceramic abstraction "Kouros III (Youth III)" is a dynamic frontal nude, an archaic Greek male figure putting his gauche foot forward. (b. May 31)

Von Allen received her BS and MS in Art Education from Edinboro Sate College and her MFA in Ceramics from Syracuse University. She joined the Brigham Young University Visual Arts Department in 1984 and is currently an Associate Professor of Ceramics and the Head of the Ceramics Program.
