EFFIE MARQUESS CARMACK

1885 - 1974
BiographyCarmack, Effie Lee Marquess (1885-1974), was born in Crofton, Kentucky; converted to the LDS Church in 1911; moved to Holladay, Utah, then to Joseph City, Arizona, in 1924 and Atascadero, California, in 1946. She was a self-trained artist in oil, watercolors, and charcoal of landscapes and religious subjects. She won a second-place award in the "hobby" division of the 1939 New York World's Fair.
