DescriptionThe image is an interior domestic scene in which a female figure holds an infant on her lap while seated next to a table; a secondary male figure is seated in shadow on the far side of the table. The female figure is turned toward the right edge of the support so that her face is in profile; the figure wears a cap that covers her hair and her left hand holds a spoon up. The table has a cloth on it and a bowl rests on the corner near the female figure; in front of the table are a step stool and a basin. A grandfather clock can be seen against the wall directly behind the female figure.
