RICHARD D. BROWN

1937 -
BiographyBrown, Richard D. (1937-), of Provo and Farmington, graduated from Brigham Young University (B.F.A., painting, M.F.A., painting and design), and worked as art director for BYU Graphics (1962-66), Western Advertising (1966-67), Concepts, Inc. (1968), the LDS Church Educational System (1969-70), and, currently, the "Friend", and LDS Church publication for children. He has exhibited his work in California, Idaho, Arizona, and utah, winning many awards for his watercolors: best of show in two Utah State Fairs, best of show in the Utah Watercolor Society, the Horace G. Merrill Award, among others. His work has been the focus of one-man show in Salt Lake City, Brigham City, and Farmington, Utah, as well as in Newport Beach, California, and has also been shown at the Springville Museum of Art. Brown has done a great deal of freelance editorial illustration and graphic-design work for all LDS magazines. Other clients include Deseret Book Company, the Utah Golf Association Shootout (booklet), Salt Lake Olympic Bid Committee (venue map, mascot symbols), and the FBI (painting). Book illustrations and design work include "Recipes for Kids," "The Creed Haymond Story," and "The Instrumentalist." (b. October 22)
